Count data is always expressed in whole integer values (0, 1, 2, 3, ….), and is used in a number of situations (see Example tab).

The other two data types are attribute and continuous.

Here are four examples of count data –

  • number of defective units per manufacturing shift
  • number of orders shipped to the wrong address
  • number of calls into a customer call center each day
  • number of defects in a final dock audit inspection
